Emergency Service
Emergency service is also available. Emergencies will be seen in order of priority as determined by the doctor and then in order of call. Additional fees will apply.
How to help us help you during an emergency:
* Keep the phone lines open! Many times we have trouble returning emergency calls due to busy phone lines.
* Have clear set of directions available to the horse’s location.
* Be prepared with a description of the horse’s age, breed, sex, and symptoms.
* Inform us immediately and clearly if referral or surgery is an option.
* Inform us immediately if the horse is insured. Have your insurance information available.
Payment
Payment is due at the time of service. We accept cash, credit card (VISA, Mastercard, Discover) or personal check (with a valid driver’s license). AEVS reserves the right to discontinue service to anyone with an outstanding account balance. A $25 fee will be assessed to any returned checks. Any balance held over 60 days is subject to 3% finance charges.
Call if you have questions!
If you are unsure whether your animal is sick or injured, it is better to call sooner
than later. Remember that this service is mobile, so we are often out of the office
or away from the phone. Always leave a complete message including name, number,
best time to call, and reason. Indicate clearly whether the call is a potential emergency.
We will return your call as soon as possible. Emergencies are given priority for
call back. Regular calls are usually returned within 24-
Service Area
Allegheny Equine Veterinary Service provides on farm care to Randolph, Tucker, Barbour, Upshur, Pocahontas and Preston counties. Generally, appointments are grouped into the same region to reduce travel time and call fees. You may also bring the patient to me in Elkins to reduce call fees.
We offer regular appointments Monday-
We make every effort to remain on schedule for each day. However, we are often faced with unforseen delays related to emergencies, traffic accidents, weather etc. We will make every attempt to contact you if we are running behind schedule. However, this too is not always possible due to limited cell phone communication in the mountains. Be assured that if we have not called to reschedule, we are on our way.
If you need to cancel your appointment, please notify the office as soon as possible. Missed appointments may be assessed a call charge minimum.
